The Lewis Family History

We owe thanks to Susie Lewis, who is the lady that started our family. Susie was a slave in the 1800's born in North Carolina. Orginally owned by the Batton family, later sold to a family with the last name of Lewis, which is how she acquired the surname Lewis. The date and year of her birth are unknown.

It is understood that Susie had only one son, named Wesley Wade which was her eldest, also a slave born in North Carolina. She birth six girls, while being a slave for the Lewis family. Fannie, Liza, Judy Ann, Hannah, Martha, and  Mariah.  In total Susie had seventeen children.

The tracing of our family tree was originated by LaBaron Bailey with extensive research Ms. Porsche Toples gather the information putting it together on paper, and for your time and effort we thank you.

FYI The new website address will always feature current events pertaining to the family, and information regarding family reunion affairs.

New photos will be added to the vacation photo album page soon.

Our Family Poem

Once again we unite with family kin,
Recapping the years discovering how long it's been.
Our aunts, uncles, cousins are all here.
Reacquainting, reaffirming memories and good cheer.

Each year we grow stronger with new grace.
Our Savior's presence is in this reunion place.
Our God is on hand providing unity's light
We are His children and precious in His sight.

Some of our loved ones have departed
Recalling their memories and leaves us light-hearted.
New generations step forward bringing joy
As we celebrate the birth of each new girl and boy.

Susie began a long time ago
Building this family we're coming to know.
We were seperated for many years in the past
Today the Lewis's are united at last.

Seperation has gone to appear no more
Our reunion's have unlocked unity's door.
Our knocks were heard by God above
Who sent a force stronger than locks
L-O-V-E  LOVE.
